Update 3/31/24: I wrote this post in 2020 after trying and loving Revive for the first time. I’m still ordering four years later, but with more to share…both good and bad.
What’s Still Good
- Flavor options—They regularly introduce new ones, and they have a couple high-protein options now.
- Convenience—I still take these to work with me; it’s easy to have a few sips between coaching classes!
- Variety—When making my own smoothies from scratch, I turn to the same ingredients over and over. Revive gives me ingredients, like beets, goji berry, yuzu, and others that I wouldn’t buy at the store.
- Referral program—They’ve revised it like three times since I’ve been a customer. You earn credit for referring people, but you can only use a certain amount off each box. Sometimes they offer other rewards, but you can only claim one reward per order.
What Needs Work
- If you decide to cancel, they make you CALL THEM. That’s after following cancelation buttons on the website, so you think you’re making progress…then BOOM, here’s our number, you have to call to complete this process. Not impressed.
- They don’t give you a warning that your order is going to ship. I know it’s my responsibility to keep track of my orders, but every other subscription I have sends me a heads-up email so I can make changes to my order or postpone it. Revive just ships it, then you might get an email that it’s been delivered, or you might not. I’ve lost two boxes this way that sat and melted in the sun. Their customer service didn’t respond to me when I reached out about that inconvenience and giant waste of money.
All that said: I still order them. The convenience is great and they’re still more affordable than Daily Harvest.
Original Post:
I decided to try Revive Superfoods (referral link) when I saw they were offering a discount on the first box! They have a great referral/rewards program, which starts with a big discount off your first box with my referral code SID1439780
Is it worth it? YES. Here’s my rundown.
What is Revive Superfoods?
It’s similar to Daily Harvest, if you’re familiar with them. I’ve tried DH products before and I LOVE them, but it always felt a little too pricey to me. Revive has a lower price point to begin with, and getting such a great discount on the first order made trying it a no-brainer.
Revive Superfoods offers ready-to-blend smoothies, frozen acai bowls, and ready-to-heat up grain bowls and oats. They arrive frozen in an insulated box.
Why I Decided to Try Revive Superfoods
I love my work, but sometimes it leaves me completely drained….especially a couple of years ago, when I was definitely coaching way too much, but even a year ago, when I was coaching early mornings. By the time I got home, all I wanted to do was nap, not prepare a meal. I tried to plan ahead so I’d have something, but too often it would catch me up. When choosing between sleep and food, I chose sleep. I was skipping meals because I was too tired to make any food.
For a long time, I had this weird guilt complex about convenience. I’m not entirely over it. I always felt like I should buy fresh produce and prepare my own meals—buying anything ready-to-eat was expensive and unnecessary.
Except it was very necessary for me. I wasn’t eating enough, which didn’t help my general fatigue.
So DH was on my radar for a long time, but I felt like I couldn’t quite justify the expense.
When I discovered Revive, the lower cost per cup definitely interested me, especially with that first-box discount.
What I Love About It
So many things!
The Variety
So many flavors to choose from! Not as many options as DH, but DH has grown a lot from the time I first heard about them and they now have a lot more products, so I imagine Revive would grow in the same way. Yes, making smoothies at home is easy enough, but mine are always about the same. It’s hard to keep such a wide variety of ingredients on hand.
Sometimes I end up throwing gone-bad produce away that I bought for smoothies because I ended up not making as many as I thought I would.
The Ingredients Lists
Simple and clean! Real foods, many of them organic.
The Simplicity
Fill the smoothie cup with your favorite liquid, then dump it all in the blender. Put the frozen acai bowls in the fridge overnight to defrost, then stir and eat. Put the grain bowls on the stove top or in the microwave for a few minutes. This is the ease I need when I’m wiped out.
